Organizations
An organization holds your domains, your team and one subscription. Everything in MailShield (domains, reports, alerts, settings and billing) belongs to an organization. You can belong to several, for example your own and a client's that invited you.
Switching Organizations
When you belong to more than one organization, the organization switcher appears at the top of the sidebar, under the MailShield logo. Pick an organization to switch to it.
Settings → Account lists every organization you belong to, with your role in each.
Roles
Every member has one of three roles:
- Owner: full access, including billing and ownership transfer. Each organization has one owner.
- Admin: manages domains, settings and invites, and can remove members. Can't access billing, change roles or remove other admins.
- Member: can view domains, reports and settings. Can't add, edit or delete domains, invite people or change organization settings.

Organization Settings
Owners and admins manage the organization under Settings → Team:
- Organization Settings: change the organization name.
- Members and Pending Invites: see Inviting Members.
Report Branding
Requires: Pro plan, owner or admin.
Under Settings → Team → Report Branding, set a Brand name, Logo URL and Accent color. MailShield uses them instead of its own branding on PDF reports: the domain PDF report, the customer report on the Reports page and the PDFs attached to scheduled reports. A scheduled report for a customer is also emailed under your brand.
Customers and Tags
To keep many clients in one organization, group domains by customer. On the Domains page, use Manage customers and Manage tags, then assign a domain under Domain → Settings → Customer and tags. Owners and admins create, change and assign customers and tags; members can view them. Customers let you filter the domain list, send a scheduled report per customer, and see estimated cost per customer on the billing page.
Creating an Organization
Your first organization is created when you sign up: it gets the team name you enter. To join another organization, ask its owner or an admin to invite you. If you need an additional organization of your own, contact support.
Leaving an Organization
- Switch to the organization you want to leave.
- Go to Settings → Team.
- Click Leave organization and confirm.
You lose access right away. An owner or admin can invite you again later.
Owners can't leave. To leave an organization you own, transfer ownership to another member first.
Deleting an Organization
There's no separate delete button. An organization is deleted together with its owner's account, under Settings → Account → Delete account. The dialog lists what will happen to each organization you own.
- If you're the organization's only member, it's deleted with your account, including all its domains and reports. This can't be undone.
- If the organization has other members, MailShield asks you to transfer ownership first, so they keep access. To delete the organization instead, remove the other members first.
- If it has an active paid subscription, cancel it under Settings → Billing first.
Billing
Each organization has its own plan, managed by the owner under Settings → Billing. The Free plan includes 1 domain and 1 member (the owner). Pro has no domain or member limit. See Plans and Billing.
