Plans and Billing
MailShield has a Free plan for evaluating one domain and a single paid plan, Pro, billed per monitored domain. If you manage more than 250 domains or need a custom contract, ask us about Enterprise.

- Notification channels on Pro: Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Matrix, Mattermost, Pushover, PagerDuty, Datadog and webhooks. See Notifications.
- Monitoring works the same on every plan: MailShield rechecks each domain every 2 hours.
- Fair use: Pro has no monthly email cap. Limits for very high-volume domains are described in the Terms of Service.
Pro Pricing
Pro bills every monitored domain and works from a single domain. The rate is graduated: each domain is billed at the rate of the band it falls in, so your average cost drops as you add domains.
| Band | Domains | Monthly billing | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1-25 | €5 per domain/month | €4 per domain/month |
| Growth | 26-100 | €4 per domain/month | €3.20 per domain/month |
| Scale | 101+ | €3 per domain/month | €2.40 per domain/month |
Annual billing saves 20%. The bands are price levels within Pro, not separate plans.
Example: 50 domains on annual billing cost 25 × €4 + 25 × €3.20 = €180/month.
Your bill follows your domain count. When you add or remove a domain, MailShield updates your subscription automatically.
Passive Monitoring Add-on
Parked or brand-protection domains that send and receive no email can use the Passive Monitoring add-on: €1.50 per domain/month (€1.20 on annual billing). A passive domain is billed at this flat rate instead of taking a Pro per-domain slot.
To switch a domain to passive (Pro only):
- Open the domain and go to Settings.
- Under Email Configuration, select Parked domain and click Save Changes.
- In the Billing card, turn on Passive monitoring add-on.
Only domains set to Parked domain are eligible. Your next invoice reflects the change. See Parked Domains for the DNS records a parked domain needs.
Enterprise
For hosting providers and MSPs with more than 250 domains, or with custom procurement needs. Enterprise includes everything in Pro, plus a negotiated per-domain rate, a dedicated account manager, a custom SLA and on-premise options. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Free Plan Email Allowance
The Free plan includes 250 emails analyzed per calendar month.
"Emails analyzed" is the total number of emails counted in the DMARC aggregate reports MailShield receives for your domain. When Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other providers send a DMARC report, it states how many emails they saw from your domain, and MailShield adds those counts up. The billing page shows this number as Emails Monitored.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| 80% of the allowance (200 emails) | The organization owner gets a heads-up email |
| 100% of the allowance (250 emails) | The organization owner gets an email that the limit is reached |
| Above 250 emails | The dashboard is locked. Reports keep being collected in the background, so no data is lost. |
| 1st of the next month | The counter resets and the dashboard unlocks |
To unlock the dashboard before the 1st, upgrade to Pro. If you need more time to evaluate, the owner can use the Need more time evaluating? form on the billing page to ask us to extend the free limit.
The Billing Page
Go to Settings → Billing. Only the organization owner can open this page. It shows:
- Current plan and usage: your plan status, domains, team members and emails monitored this month
- Plan cards: Free and Pro side by side, with a Monthly / Annual toggle and an estimate of your Pro bill for your current number of domains
- Payment & Invoices: the Manage Billing button, once you have a paid subscription
- Per-customer breakdown: estimated cost per customer, shown when your domains are grouped under more than one customer (useful for MSP pass-through invoicing)
Managing Your Subscription
Upgrade to Pro
- Go to Settings → Billing.
- Choose Monthly or Annual billing.
- Click Upgrade to Pro on the Pro card.
- Complete checkout with Stripe.
Pro features are available as soon as checkout completes.
Switch Between Monthly and Annual Billing
Requires: owner.
- Go to Settings → Billing.
- Set the toggle to the billing interval you want.
- Click Switch to annual billing (or Switch to monthly billing) on the Pro card, check the estimate and confirm.
Switching to annual charges the first year right away, minus a credit for the unused part of the current month. Switching to monthly turns the unused part of your annual payment into account credit, which pays your next invoices first. Passive Monitoring moves to the same interval.
Older plans
If your organization is on an older plan, it keeps working with your current billing and limits. The Pro card shows a Switch to per-domain pricing button when you're ready to move.
Update Payment Details and Download Invoices
Click Manage Billing in the Payment & Invoices card. This opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can update your payment method and view or download invoices.
Cancel Your Subscription
- Go to Settings → Billing.
- Click Cancel subscription on the Free card.
- Confirm the cancellation in the Stripe portal.
Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and the billing page shows the date it ends. After that, your organization moves back to the Free plan and its limits.
Billing FAQ
Is there a minimum number of domains on Pro?
No. Pro works from a single domain. On annual billing, 5 domains cost €20/month and 10 domains cost €40/month.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), processed securely by Stripe.
What happens if a payment fails?
Your subscription shows as Past Due and Stripe retries the charge. Pro features stay available for a short grace period. Update your card with Manage Billing to avoid falling back to the Free plan.
Do you support SSO or SAML?
On every plan, you can sign in with an email link, a passkey, or your Google or Microsoft account. SAML and connecting your own identity provider aren't supported.
